What FreshRig Does
FreshRig reads hardware information from your computer — including CPU model, GPU model, RAM capacity, storage devices, network adapters, motherboard model, and audio devices — using your operating system's native APIs: Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) on Windows, /proc + lspci on Linux, and system_profiler + sysctl on macOS.
Local Processing Only
All hardware information is processed and displayed locally on your device. FreshRig does NOT transmit, collect, store, or share your hardware data with any server, third party, or the developer.
Auto-Updater
FreshRig checks for updates by sending an HTTP GET request to GitHub Releases (https://github.com/ZIPREX420/freshrig/releases/latest/download/latest.json). This request contains your current app version, target operating system, and architecture. Your IP address is visible to GitHub's servers during this request. See GitHub's Privacy Policy.
App Installation
When you install applications through FreshRig, it uses Microsoft's winget package manager. Download requests go directly to the app publishers' servers via winget's infrastructure. FreshRig does not intermediate or log these downloads.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No analytics
- No cookies
- No personal information
- No usage statistics
- No error reporting
- No device fingerprinting
- No advertising IDs
Profiles
Saved profiles (.freshrig.json files) are stored locally on your device. Shared profiles contain only app selection data and optionally basic hardware info (CPU/GPU model, RAM amount) — never unique identifiers like serial numbers or MAC addresses.
Children's Privacy
FreshRig does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR).
GDPR
As FreshRig processes no personal data beyond what is technically necessary for the auto-update check, and all hardware processing is local, data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) do not apply to locally-processed data. For the auto-updater IP exposure, the legal basis is legitimate interest (keeping your software secure and up to date). You may contact us at freshrig@proton.me.
CCPA
FreshRig does not sell, share, or collect personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.
